My micro teaching

Last class, I tried to do micro teaching with my partner, Taichi. We taught interrogative of 進行形, "What ~ doing?". It' s for seventh grades. We taught it on 2 stages.
First is doing demonstration with using pictures. After that, we practiced pronunciation. But we had a mistake. We forgot explaining the structure! It' s a big mistake.
Second is playing gesture game. I think it is very interesting game for students. Though it took too much time to explain the game, everyone enjoyed it!

○Strength Point
・Pictures are easy to understand
⇒We used our pictures, so the students feel interesting
・The game is a lot of fun
・Every student could speak target sentence in the game
・Practice pronunciation is enough
・For seventh grades, the class is easy to accept

○Weakness Point
・We didn' t teach its structure
⇒We only thought out enjoying the class, not structure
・It took much time to explain how to play the game
・We didn' t support the students well
⇒Both of us didn' t help the students who couldn' t understand
・Lack of practice
⇒Students would do better to write
・We didn' t confirm that the students could understand
・We were not good to distribute time

Through this micro teaching, I learned that teaching English is very difficult. We need more consideration for students who are poor at English, and think about not only enjoyment but also practical English.
What do you think about our micro teaching? Please give me many advices.

Hi, Mayuchan! This is Pizza.
Your strong Points:
I enjoyed learning through seeing pictures and doing game. I think it is very important to give students enjoyment of learning English, especially in seventh grades not to have the students feel "I don't like English." So I think your teaching was very good for 7th grader.
Your Weak Points:
As you wrote, it would be better to do writing activity not only in oral way to help students to understand grammar.
Thank you for your teaching!

Thank you for your teaching!
I like your game very much. I could enjoy it!! I think that all of the students can enjoy the game. I also enjoyed your example sentences. You used real picture as example sentences. And, you taught us difference between ‘She’and noun,‘Mayuko’. I could understand easily. Good job!

Hello, Mayuchan☆
Your lesson was the best of four gloup, I think♫
And I felt it took much time Mayuko and you to make good lesson.
The picture and photos were so interesting, games also!!
But, you had better talk today's target. ("Today, we study the progressive form-進行形.")
Thank you for good teaching☺

Hi☆This is rozen. My roll was a studenmt who don't like or dislike English.
I think your game was interesting. Some of the gesture was difficult, but we could enjoy it.
I think your weak point was only inputing the way of using the main structure of this class.Children have good brain to input but they couldn't input the maeaning of the structure.

Thank you for your 'interrogative progressive micro teaching' with a funny picture♪

Hi I am NABESO , I was lucky because I could see your funny picture . your micro teaching was good because I think a jesture game was interesting and effective to study the grammer for students . In the game students could pronunced a sentense which include a terget grammer so this gameis good . However I thought students should have more chances to pronunciation sentenses which include a terget grammer . thank you for your teaching .

Hi,this is Satona☆Thank you for your micro teaching in last EMT class.
Your teaching was very interesting and cheerful.English game was also good. And you used card practice, but card practice ia easy to memorize sentences as phrases. They were your strong points,I thought. While,I wanted you to look at students.
Anyway,I liked your teaching.Thank you☆

Hi Mayuchan, this is Naojin.
It was really good to use interesting pictures and we enjoyed your class. I think it is more important for 7th grader to get them interested in English than to teach target grammar mechanically.
You made good atmosphere to make class interesting as an ALT teacher and that's really good point. I want to do that like you in my micro teaching.
Tkank you for your teaching.

Thank you for your teaching.
I enjoyed your game and your picture was funny.
The game was really effective,I think.Maybe you can teach well and students can understand difference between 進行形 and 現在形.I remember that understanding the difference was hard.
Thank you.

Hi☆I enjoyed your class very much!
You used some pictures and easy words,so many students could enjoy and understand your class.Especially, you gave students enough oral practice before the game.I think it was good point for successful game.If you enphasize "what" and "be ~ing",for example, using What card or color, students can notice and understand the structure, too.
Thank you for your teaching!

Hi!Mayuchan♪This is Kanage☆
Thank you for your micro teaching.
It was very helpful to me!!
First, the picture that you prepared was good.It was easy to understand and impressionable.
second,I enjoyed the game very much.
You had better shorten time the explanation of the game as you said.
You did your best of teaching!!
Thanks♪♪

Mayuchan,
Thank you for your teaching. I enjoyed your class and learned many things from it. Now I am going to tell you about strong points and weak points of your class that I think.
*Strong Points*
You had a pleasant game in your lesson. I had never seen or thought of such a game. I think the game would give great pleasure to students, even who are not good at English or don't like it. So I want to try it in the future.
*Weak Points*
You did not have enough explanation for the structure, as you wrote. Students would not understand how to make the sentences, but just temporarily remember the form "What is he/she doing?".
And there were few oppotunities for Taichi to speak. Taichi, you got nervous, didn't you? But I think you were JET, so you should have led the class. And an ALT, Mayu, would better to speak more English. There are not so many opportunities for students to study English with an ALT, therefore I want you to shower a lot of live English. What I want to say is, you two would better to divide the work well and support each other. And Taichi, don't be shy next time.

Anyway you did a good job. I think it would be a good experience for you. Thank you.

HI,mayuchang! I'm Jaguar.Thank you for teaching in the last class.
I was very impressed your way of teaching beacause the game was so interesting!
To move is an important thing and it is a shorter way to remember the word.
The game was so active and I could communicate with a lot of people.
And your picture of drinking was also good to grasp student's heart.
See you next week!

Hi! I'm Bu-chan.
I could enjoy your lesson.
the gesture game was very fun!
The class was goob, but I recommend you to explain about the key point of the class.
If you do so, your lesson will be more useful!
Good job!

I think your teaching was very substantial! The pictures and game were a lot of fun and enjoyable, but I am not sure that students remember the contents well after the class. If there is more Meta-Cognition, it will be nicer! Thank you your impressive teaching.

Hi,Mayuchan and Chiita! I really enjoyed your micro teaching! Espeacially Game activity was interesting. If students pley the game, they will be exciting so much. The game was nice idea. I want to try as a teacher.
And you kept smile during the class. So we could be relax and answer with rest. I think it is important things.
I enjoyed your activity! Thank You!

Thank you for your class.
To make a good mood for class is important at first I guess.
You showed us some picture and indicated this picture means. It is kind way because we undestand and anticipate what we will do next.
You could explain what is the progressive form and when it be used.

wakame さんのコメント...

Hi! This is Wakame. First, your pictures were so nice and we could enjoy them. Your game was so fine too! Students like the activity using their bodies, so they may be so active in your game, I think.
It is better to show more examples before the game, but your smile was so good! Thank you for your teaching. See you!
